Étude Elementary Movement and Learning

It is important to incorporate movement into a child’s education. The research between brain development and movement has long been known. For Étude Elementary, part of being ready to learn is getting moving. Through the Étude Elementary Movement and Learning program, students incorporate research based movement sequences to prepare students for learning.

As part of our daily classroom meeting students WOMMP which is an abbreviation for Water, Oxygen, Marching, Midline, Pretzel. Each aspect of WOMMP prepares the brain for the days learning and serves to alleviate any stress students may bring to the classroom. Also supporting this approach are Rug Routines predominantly done with our Kindergarten classes. These routines are based off of research that shows specific movements are tied to brain development in young children. These movement sequences help students with attention span and even improve literacy development.
