Mike Mangione + the Union Concert Review

Mike Mangione + the Union Concert Review Header Image

On February 28, 2015, a band of indie and folk music, Mike Mangione and The Union became one with Sheboygan, Wisconsin, as they performed at Étude Sessions. Mike Mangione and The Union gave a sensational performance that awed all.

Sometimes people forget those in a band are people as well. Most common thought that comes to mind when thinking of band members is “They must be self-centered and rude.” But as Mike Mangione was interviewed, it become more apparent that neither he nor the rest of his band lived up to these stereotypes. Mike Mangione and his brother Thomas created their band after their mother had introduced them into the music realm as an alternative to fighting with their other brother. The band grew into a group of four later on. Mike Mangione said “The Union is a family.” The group showed it in their performance that they were indeed a family by blood or not.

Mike Mangione and Thomas have similar but different tastes in music. “Our difference is what helps us produce music that we enjoy.” Mike Mangione added that “The Band” was one of his bigger inspirations. He hopes to inspire others to express themselves and be creative.

It was great to have Sheboygan's own The Belle Weather open up for Mike Mangione and The Union. Such a great, rare unplugged set in the SW corner of Paradigm!
