Parent Maker Night

Please join us for an evening of making at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center!

On April 5th and 6th, The Étude Group schools (ESAA, Mosaic, IDEAS) along with the John Michael Kohler Arts Center will host Erica Rosenfeld Halverson of University of Wisconsin - Madison’s departments of Educational Psychology and Curriculum & Instruction. Halverson’s research is focused on the maker movement and maker spaces.

You are invited to a special Parent Maker Experience on Tuesday, April 5th from 6:30 - 8:00pm with Erica Halverson. She will be taking parents through a game design process while outlining the benefits of the making experience. This will be a fun and engaging experience for all. Following the making experience, Erica will have time to talk about how we, as parents, can use the making process to support our own children. If you are planning on attending, Please RSVP. As ESAA parents, we invite you to bring a friend who you believe would benefit from this experience.

The Parent Making Experience is part of a larger residency with Erica Halverson to support creative makerspaces with in our schools and community. In addition to the Parent Maker Experience Erica will also work with area educators and community leaders looking at makerspaces. The specific schedule for this residency is:

Parent Maker Experience: April 5th, 6:30 - 8:00, John Michael Kohler Arts Center
Community Conversation: April 6th, 12:00 - 1:30, I.D.E.A.S. Academy, 830 Virginia Ave.
Professional Development for Educators: April 6th 2:45 - 4:30, John Michael Kohler Arts Center.

We look forward to having you join us for this fun and educational evening!

(This is an adults only evening, however, childcare will be provided on site. Fortunately, our students get to have experiences like this on a daily basis.)
