About PHOX
Born out of the circus capital Baraboo, Wis., PHOX dropped their self-titled debut album last summer. Since then their unique sound has filled and sold out such venues as the Pabst Theatre, Coachella Music Festival, and Summerfest. Named the band of the year at the 2015 Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards, PHOX’s notoriety also led to stints on “CBS This Morning” and TBS late-night’s “Conan” and opening duties for such bands as the Lumineers and Blitzen Trapper.

Bandmates Matt Holmen, Zach Johnston, Jason Krunnfusz, Monica Martin, Davey Roberts and Matteo Roberts produce a mix of smooth melodies with honest lyrics that portray stories of growing up in a small Midwestern town. Songs like “Satyr and the Faun,” “1936,” and “Slow Motion” speak of moving in slow motion through a world full of lost love, deep roots, and new dreams.

About Hayward Williams
Veteran Americana singer-songwriter and Wisconsin native, Hayward Williams, is revered for his shy yet authoritative and always soulful voice. According to Americana UK, Williams offers “A fine set of soulful, introspective songs with his deep baritone trickling like honey throughout. Lush with lashings of strummed acoustics sweetened with tasty pedal steel, violin and dobro; all that’s missing is the crackling of a good wood fire.”

After a personal struggle with anxiety the slow, doubt-stricken, but steady process of learning how to think, feel, write and perform again is the backdrop of his recent album, The Reef. Williams enters soul territory in his new songs and arrangements, complete with soaring horn sections and call-and-response back-up vocals from the sibling duo of Matt and Kate Lorenz (Rusty Belle).

About The Dave Stoler Quartet
Jazz pianist and multi-keyboardist Dave Stoler is from Madison, Wisconsin. For the last seven years, he has been a featured member of the Madison-based Tony Castaneda Latin Jazz Sextet, which has been voted Madison's favorite jazz group for four years in a row. He also leads his own trio and quartet, performing regularly at Smalls Jazz Club in New York City's West Village.

The Étude Sessions
Proceeds from The Étude Sessions ensure transformative experiences for students in the arts and academics such as college readiness initiatives, international travel, and artist in residence programs, that would not otherwise be available to public school students. During the 2014-2015 season a portion of the funds helped send students on a service-learning trip to Nicaragua in June. Students envisioned their professional lives beyond high school through participation in creative writing festivals, dance workshops, and engineering in the community experiences. They also visited eight different colleges in Wisconsin, including Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Milwaukee School of Engineering, UW-Milwaukee, and UW-Madison. The intention The Étude Sessions is to make these experiences accessible to all students in the Étude schools, 80% of whom are first generation college students and over 50% of whom qualify for free or reduced lunch.

The Étude Sessions is the brainchild of Troy Tousey, founder of Open Mind Studios of Sheboygan, Wis. Troy, an avid community supporter and passionate live music fan, hosted house concerts in his backyard and attended hundreds of live performances during his years at Northwestern University, and while living in Colorado and Sheboygan. Troy was vice president of The Étude Group Governing Board, part of the Sheboygan Area School District, at the time of his death in June of 2012. Troy dreamed of presenting music like this to Sheboygan to benefit the community, the music, and The Étude Group schools.
