Alumni talk college at Senior Institute

Étude High School alumni shared their college experiences with seniors and juniors at the IDEAS Academy Senior Institute January 4. This is the third Senior Institute at IDEAS, but the first to which alumni were invited.

The alumni discussed everything concerning college from selecting a college to the application process and even roommates. The goal of this meeting was to give juniors and seniors insight and advice about college from former classmates.

Étude alumni included college freshmen Kyle Whelton, Betsy Klauck and Kyle Halida, and college senior Kyle Arpke. Halida and Arpke told about their experiences in the UW system, attending UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee respectively, while Whelton and Klauck discussed their lives at private institutions, Marquette University and Columbia University in Chicago. Along with the Senior Institutes, students have also been writing résumés and personal statements in their Advisories to prepare for college.   The IDEAS Academy goal is to have every student apply for and be accepted to college. Senior Institutes help prepare students for all that awaits them as they reach for their college goals.
