IDEAS and Mosaic Think Tanks have collaborated to host a Community Night featuring dinner and a talent show. Dinner will be provided through a cook-off, where students and staff will bring their best dish and serve it up to the guests who will then vote on their favorite. A winner will be announced at the end of the event. Entertainment will be provided by the brave and talented students who are interested in performing for the school. The event will begin at 5:00pm on Friday, March 13th and conclude at 7:00pm in the IDEAS/Mosaic Cafeteria.
The Curious Collection of Albert Montwhistle continues with Episode 2 (be sure to check out Episode 1[/highschool/ideas-blog/radio-drama-continues-the-first-episode/] from last week).
February and March are coming alive with college plans for juniors and seniors.
The public is invited to see one of the final stages of the journey the IDEAS Rock Band class has been on this trimester. Over the course of the trimester students have focused on learning key elements of what it takes to be in a rock band: communication, collaboration, and Habits of Mind.
Across from Stuart Howland’s Visual Arts classroom, a collection of charcoal drawings captures our attention: human figures—their faces provocative, shadowed, lit by an unknown source; shapes—a simple vase, a barely discernible collection, an object. We stop to wonder. The images, drawn by IDEAS Academy students in the Visioning Seminar, are not instantly accessible. They make us think.

The Étude Sessions represents a combination of a love for music along and a desire to ensure that programs that enrich student learning are avail able to all. Often we see those opportunities that can truly enrich a child's education available to those who can afford to pay. Additionally, we often see our more affluent schools being able to afford these enriching opportunities. When we started our schools in 2007, our founders made a commitment to ensuring our schools and all of its programming was available to all students, regardless of socio economic background.
We are excited to announce that Sheboygan's own The Belle Weather will be opening for the next Étude Sessions featuring Mike Mangione & the Union. The Belle Weather was formed in 2011 and released their first album in 2013 at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee. The band is about to release their second album titled "Suitcase" on April 26th at Paradigm Coffee + Music. The Belle Weather describes themselves by saying:
Last Thursday we lost Liz Bloise, a long time member of our school community, to cancer. When Liz’s children attended ESAA, she was a strong participant in PTO and our school. She could be seen regularly at meetings and graciously donating her time whenever needed. Liz developed many deep friendships while at ESAA. Liz’s memorial service is being held on Thursday, February 19th. Many of our community members would like to attend. With this in mind, we are rescheduling the February 19th PTO meeting. The new meeting date will be March 19th at 6:30pm. We look forward to seeing everyone on March 19th to discuss transportation and gardening at ESAA.
