Guided Work Time

Description: An opportunity is created for students to spend additional time to be successful and complete missing work in various courses.  Students will have the extra support needed to demonstrate achievement and reach their goals.

Animal Club

Students will also research current events relating to animal issues around the world and become advocates for animal welfare.

FTC [FIRST Tech Challenge]

Description: It’s way more than building robots. FIRST Tech Challenge teams (10+ members, grades 7-12) are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to play a floor game in an alliance format. Participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have!” Guided by adult Coaches and Mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles (like keeping an engineering notebook), while realizing the value of hard work, innovation, and sharing ideas. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and can be programmed using a variety of languages. Teams also must raise funds, design and market their team brand, and do community outreach for which they can win awards. Participants have access to tens of millions of dollars in college scholarships. Each season concludes with regional Championships and an exciting FIRSTChampionship.

ACT Prep

Description: Students will practice and gain the skills needed to complete the ACT.  They will review the English, math, science and reading sections.  Students will practice, understand the scoring and learn new strategies to be successful test-takers.

Description: The IDEAS GSA mission is to create a safe social environment that welcomes all lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, queer/questioning and straight ally (LGTBQA) youth to come and talk about any issues concerning them. This provides a place to meet new people, hang out and have fun. We also want to provide awareness of different sexual and gender identities, linking homophobia with other oppressions, and advocating for equal treatment for youth of all sexual orientations, our GSA will help create a school environment free of homophobic sexual, verbal and physical harassment. Through acceptance at all our activities we will reduce isolation and bullying of LGTBQA youth at our school.

DIY Fiber: Making and Altering Clothing, Quilts, and Art

Description: Maker space for all things fiber. Start by learning basic sewing (machine and hand) skills or using skills you already have to make original clothing, alter or embellish existing pieces. We will explore the work of artists working in fiber - fashion, quilts, sculpture - to design and create original work. With guest artists we will learn the basics of knitting, crocheting, embroidery, needle felting, and fabric dying. Driven by student interest! Open to Mosaic and IDEAS students. Beginners welcome! Bring your project ideas or learn to sew on that button.

Cooking Club

Description: Students will explore the basics of culinary arts!  Students will re-create recipes and experiment to design their own.

OAK [Outdoor Adventure Konnection]

Description: Through OAK students will get the opportunity to answer the following questions: What should I carry on a hike?, What if I run out of water?, What can I eat from outside?, How do I cook with a fire?, How do I build a fire?, and How do I plan a hike?  Throughout the semester, we will be planning, practicing, prepping and then going on adventures. We will practice survival skills like starting fires, cooking, and filtering water. We will plan hikes, biking opportunities, water sports using kayaks and ideally end the year with an overnight camping trip.  Whether it is your first time doing something active outdoors or you have been in the woods all your life, this is a great way to develop healthy living and leadership skills and self-awareness.

Drama Production

Description: Production Club is an opportunity for students with an interest in drama to gather together and create.  We will read published works from other writers for inspiration, but we are focused on students developing their own work for production.  After creating a body of work, students will rehearse and refine their work.  The Production Club will culminate in a final performance for the public.

Tabletop Gamers Club

Description: Students will gather every week and explore various tabletop games.  No experience necessary.

Description: Students will focus on the fundamental, collaborative skills of basketball.

Description: Chess is a wonderful activity, as it promotes thinking skills such as observing, problem solving, being strategic and planning ahead, seeing and forming patterns, as well as good sportsmanship.

Adobe Master Suite Class

Launch Pad

Description: The Launch Pad project is a Wisconsin competition where students are asked to form music groups to write, perform, and record original music. Don’t let the competition part scare you, this is more about students coming together to learn the creative process of writing music that they are interested in. This is a great outlet for people who have never been in a band, as well for those whom have some experience playing with others; ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME! Everybody has something to offer, you might not even know what it is yet.  This is a great opportunity do discover and refine your talents with fellow students in an unthreatening way.  This after school program lends itself to performance opportunities as well, also to learn to demo and record ideas to collaborate with others.  Come with an open mind and an interest to creating music!  For more details on Launchpad: http://www.launchpadwisconsin.org/index.html
