Melissa Etheridge and her full band will close out Season 4 of The Étude Sessions on Thursday, April 20th at the Stefanie H. Weill Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. In a recent interview with The Sheboygan Press, Etheridge promised that the show will feature some of her classic songs as well as music from her now album, 'Memphis Rock and Soul.' The unique album is a tribute to the Memphis Blues and a historic time in America music. Stax Records was among the first to recognize that soul music transcended racial segregation in the 1960's - recording renown artists like Booker T and the M.G.s, Otis Redding, and the Mar-Keys. By reimagining songs from the Stax Records songbook, like "Respect Yourself" by the Staples Singers, Etheridge reminds us of some of the lessons learned through the Civil Rights Movement. At the same time, she applies her special rock artistry to move Memphis Blues into a new genre.

In a Rolling Stone interview, Etheridge shares the following about Stax and the Memphis Blues:
Melissa Etheridge is well known for giving voice to marginalized communities. We love that she brings her own energy to "Good Cause" as an artist in The Étude Sessions. Moreover, 'Memphis Rock and Soul" is an example of how artists become students of other artists, experts and their work. Our Good Cause is, of course, students in The Étude Group schools, who we hope to empower as leaders, creatives, entrepreneurs, and citizens through authentic learning experiences beyond classroom walls. The funds raised by this concert and season will support opportunities for students to participate in real world problem solving, college visits, artist-in-residence programs, and field experiences.
Please join us for a night of great music, supporting our schools and a tradition of empowerment through the arts.
A core part of our educational philosophy is to provide our students experiences outside of the traditional classroom. These opportunities are critical to developing background knowledge, one of the strongest indicators of how well a student will learn and succeed.

Falling in line after Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to giving to charities and causes you care about. Now, you can include The Étude Group of Schools in your #GivingTuesday plans through the Étude Sessions.
Friday, October 16th, 2016 was a special night. We welcomed PHOX, one of indie’s most exciting new bands, to Paradigm Coffee and Music to kick off another season of The Étude Sessions. As a special treat, Étude Sessions alumna and folk songstress from Minneapolis Brianna Lane set the stage for a night of unforgettable music.
Communication and collaboration are key to the success of indie band PHOX, according to Matt Holmen and Monica Martin. Phox played the first show of the 2015-2016 Étude Sessions on October 16. The band has been working hard for the last two years, finishing their first self-titled album and heading out on tour.
Étude Sessions welcomes PHOX with Brianna Lane to kick off our third season at Paradigm Coffee and Music, October 16th, 2015.
BMO Harris has come on board as a sponsor of the Étude Sessions. Sponsorships help offset the costs of shows so concert revenues go directly to fund programming such as artists-in-residence and college readiness at our schools. Thank you, BMO Harris!
We are very pleased to announce Huber Creative as a Season Three Sponsor. Last year, with their support we welcomed Mike Mangione & the Union[http://mikemangione.com] to play an incredible night of music at Paradigm.
We are counting down the days until PHOX kicks off the 2015-16 season of the Étude Sessions at Paradigm Coffee and Music on October 16th. As we begin our third year, we've reached out to our community of supporters (you!) for Sponsorships to help us build this exciting series. We are so thankful for those of you who have answered the call and become sponsors, we want to shout it from the rooftops!
Thank you to those who have already purchased Season Passes for Season 3 of the Étude Sessions. We know others are looking to purchase in the next week. We want to make sure that as you plan out your session attendance this season, you know that Season Passes are limited. Once the Phox show sells out (and it will sell out), we will stop selling Season Passes. Phox tickets as well as tickets for Hayward Williams and The Dave Stoler Quartet, go on sale on Friday, September 4th at 11:00 a.m.
Teacher by day and, by night, a band of pop and rock mixture… The Sugar Stems. Our very own Drew Fredrichsen, music department at IDEAS Academy and The Mosaic School, actually teaches what he preaches. Drew holds classes for both IDEAS and Mosaic students, teaching the music he loves. He has been opening the ears and hearts of his students to the realm of music and helping them break out of their shells.
The Étude Sessions represents a combination of a love for music along and a desire to ensure that programs that enrich student learning are avail able to all. Often we see those opportunities that can truly enrich a child's education available to those who can afford to pay. Additionally, we often see our more affluent schools being able to afford these enriching opportunities. When we started our schools in 2007, our founders made a commitment to ensuring our schools and all of its programming was available to all students, regardless of socio economic background.
This year NPR featured a competition for bands to win a spot on their Tiny Desk concerts. Tiny Desk Concerts are intimate video performances, recorded live at the desk of All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen. These concerts have recently featured Cat Stevens and Lucinda Williams.
