Senior mini-meetings encourage college application completion

Seniors have been meeting by Advisory group with the College Readiness Coordinator this November. The goal is to make time for more small-group or individualized conversation and assistance with college applications. All senior applications should be completed before the Thanksgiving Break!

Though this may seem like a scary and stressful time for some seniors, it doesn’t have to be! Getting organized and taking a step at a time will put each senior in total control. Parents can help!

Here are the checkpoints discussed at our mini-meetings.:

Are you on track with all your required high school credits? How’s your GPA (Grade Point Average)? You can still raise it you know!

  • Is your résumé up to date? This will help you complete both college and scholarship applications. Plus, take it along when you apply for jobs right now! (You need money for college, right? Employers will be impressed to meet a high school student with a résumé!)
  • The Personal Statement is not just an Advisory assignment. It is a draft of your college and scholarship essay! Spend time with it—it’s all about you! Visit the Writing Center for help!
  • Have you taken the ACT? If not, register at ACT.org. Our school code is 502103.
  • What colleges or programs fit your interests and future plans? Check them out online (if you haven’t already!). Look over the application form and be sure to have everything you need, including Social Security Number. Most applications require a fee, so be ready to pay that as you apply.
  • Need help with the application? See your Advisor or the College Readiness Coordinator. You are taking new strides and we are here to guide you!

Please let the College Readiness Coordinator and your Advisor know when your application is submitted! We want to celebrate with you!

College Applications 100%! College Applications 100%! College Applications 100%! College Applications 100%! College Applications 100%!... College Acceptance 100%! College Acceptance 100%! College Acceptance 100%! College Acceptance 100%! College Acceptance 100%!
