The Étude Sessions returns to Paradigm Coffee and Music this month, featuring Caroline Smith on March 15th at 8:00. Tickets are $18 and are available at Paradigm Coffee and Music and at IDEAS Academy/The Mosaic School. All proceeds will benefit a fund called Expanding Horizons that supports programming at all three of The Étude Group of schools: Elementary School for the Arts and Academics (ESAA), The Mosaic School, and I.D.E.A.S. (Innovation through Design, Engineering, Arts and Sciences) Academy. The Expanding Horizons program helps students interact with professionals and colleges in a meaningful way through project based learning and field experiences.
The goal of the concert series is to bring people together in the community experience of interesting music and good food and coffee while also raising funds to benefit student learning.
Caroline Smith’s song “Magazine” is currently listed in NPR’s “Heavy Rotation: Download 10 Songs Public Radio Can’t Stop Playing.” She performs at Paradigm Saturday, March 15, at 8:00 p.m. A Minnesota-based R&B, neo-soul, indie rock singer, her newest album, Half About Being a Woman is about feeling good about yourself and “growing in to your own skin,” according to her KickStarter Website.
These concerts are part of a series honoring Troy Tousey, a local designer who was very active in forming all of the schools in the Étude Group. Troy was killed in a bicycle accident in June of 2012. He was a board member and a parent who also gave his design expertise to the schools. Troy's other wish was to help create a vibrant music scene in Sheboygan. The Étude Series honors Troy's memory.
