Parent Connections Night

One of core values of our schools is to develop a connected, participatory community. We develop it intentionally in our classrooms, through advisory activities as well as through experiences like Camp Anokijig. The development of community extends to parents as well. This year we are making a more intentional effort to ensure our parents are part of our community. One of the first steps is to set aside time each month for parents, teachers and students to get together. Our intent is for our parents to learn more about the school, get to know each other, and have an ongoing dialogue about our schools.

Our first opportunity for this is Thursday, September 11 from 6:00 - 7:00. In keeping with our mission to build a strong community, we will be serving soup from our gardens starting at 5:30. We started this last year on a whim and found that it really created a good sense of community at our meetings. The main topic of our meeting will be our 1:1 Chromebook initiative. We want to give you an overview of the Chromebooks and give you time to work with your son or daughter to personalize Chrome settings. If you are unfamiliar with Chromebooks, please feel free to review this quick video: http://goo.gl/uzoCZ.

Additionally, we know that part of being connected to our community is the ability to communicate with you. We will take some time to go over how you can stay in touch with our school through various social media and other communication means. We want to be sure you have what you need to stay in touch with school.

As parents, you are an integral part of our community. We hope to see you on Thursday and future Parent Connection Nights (listed on the calendar from registration). We look forward to building a strong community with you.

As always, if you wish to discuss this or anything related to our schools, please feel free to email me at thamm@sheboygan.k12.wi.us.
